Seeking inspiration
Earlier this week I wrote a LinkedIn post about how I'm just not feeling it these days.
Not feeling inspired to post on social media.
Not knowing what to write or share.
Just feeling like I don't have much to say. Or can't motivate to say it.
So what do you do when you don't know what to write? You write about it, lol. And it resonated!
Lots of people commented to say they felt the same way, either now or at some point in the past few months or so.
Sometimes the reminder that we're not alone is all we need to feel ok with not keeping up with the social Jones'.
And other times, inspiration comes from an unexpected place.
Love me a statement T
I belong to a small, unofficial networking group that meets twice a month. We've been meeting for maybe two years now and it's quite informal. But when I joined the call this week, one member had a t-shirt that read, "It's a good day for a good day" and I just thought that was such a great sentiment.
"Target" he said, laughing.
But of course I then had to go down the Google hole to see where this came from.
What I found was the song above from Michael Franti and then references to a song with a similar title from Ice Cube, of all places.
But as someone who was seeking inspiration, I found it.
I found it in the simple concept of choosing to have a good day.
That any day is a good day for a good day.
And while it's of course never that simple, it's nice to imagine it could be.
There's certainly no silver bullet for inspiration. And even as a writer, I can't be on or inspired all the time. I wish that was the case, but well, life.
But I like the idea that something small might be all it takes.
And like anything, it's also about timing.
Had I seen this shirt another time, I might have thought it trite or saccharine. But because it was what I needed, it struck just the right chord. (unlike this song, which is well, not really my thing)
But if you've been struggling lately, for content or anything else, know that something might speak to you when you least expect it.
