1 is the loneliest number
Not just a depressing song, doing your business solo can be a huge downer. Of course there are so many perks as well:
Being your own boss
Making your own hours
Controlling your rates
Working with clients you love
But there’s also:
Having to do everything yourself
Wearing all the hats
Forgetting which hat you’re wearing
Dealing with scope creep
Being your own bookkeeper, accountant, VA, marketer, sales person and PR person
Working all the time
Realizing you don’t love your clients
Realizing you don’t like the work you’re doing
Realizing that being your own boss isn’t all it’s cracked up to be
But it doesn’t have to be
I remember when I started out and it felt like I had to say yes to any client. I also remember having SO many discovery calls and wasting so much time on proposals and clients that went nowhere. I felt like I was drowning and spinning my wheels at the same time. And it sucked.
It took me too long to realize that my own lack of clarity in my brand is why clients didn’t know what my services were. Why I didn’t know the kind of clients I wanted to work with. And why I was essentially generic and forgettable.
But once I realized that the most important aspect in my business was me, everything changed.
That by holding myself back in my messaging I was doing myself and my potential clients a disservice.
And that once I started to be more myself and give in to the fear of rejection and limit my client pool, I actually gained more confidence and more clients.
And now so have hundreds of solopreneurs who’ve worked with me.
I know that being more YOU works.
It allows you to do better work and make better money.
It allows you to find better clients and work better hours.
So if you’re ready to stop going it alone and finally step into who you are and who you want to work with, sign up for my LinkedIn workshop and take control of your message and your business.
